Oh wow, it’s been a while since I last wrote up one of these! This time around I was nominated by Mirror Purple, a fellow aniblogger. To check out his nomination post, click here, his blurb about me is…interesting (hehehe)
RULES
- Display the award on your blog.
- Thank the person who nominated you and put a link to their blog.
- Share 7 things about yourself.
- Nominate 15 or more bloggers and let them know you nominated them.
So he didn’t leave me a topic for this award so I’m just going to pick a random one: My Bookshelves. Also, a lot of the people I follow have already been nominated so I went looking around for some new people who maybe haven’t been nominated yet. If you have…oops (lol)
Here we go!
1 . I recently bought a new shelf to add to my currently full 6 ones. And by full I mean I put two rows of books on each section, pile some in-between the sections, and stack up to my ceiling.
2 . I have 3 shelves that are filled with novels, 2 of them that are manga, and one that is yaoi-specific. I also have an invisible one that sits atop two of these and that just has a whole bunch of general manga and a few yaoi ones that didn’t fit on its own shelf.
3 . I own quite a few Japanese manga. At first, I was only buying unlicensed Japanese ones, usually yaoi but now I’ve started collecting certain series in Japanese because they’re so ahead compared to the English. One example is My Hero Academia. I own the 10 volumes that are out. If I really like a series I’ll even buy both versions. (No I’m not buying the English for Ten Count)
4 . I have probably read 90% of my manga collection and only a small portion of my novels. The reason is that I read the manga online first and then collect it if I like it. For novels, sometimes I’ll buy them and not like them, or I’ll just go on a shopping spree…and those generally take longer to read OTL
5 . My novels collection has gotten so big that I now have to shelve it a certain way. I have the first two sections of one shelf with some of my favorites for easy access. After that, all of them are ordered by author name and title. If they’re from one series I ignore the titles and just put them in order. I also put small pocket-sized paperbacks, classics, and school books in their own sections.
6. My manga collection is ordered by type (general vs yaoi) and then whatever I want displayed at the front. Sometimes the length of the series plays a role in how I shelve. For example, all my Naruto (72) and Skip Beat (34) volumes have their own sections because they’re longer than any of the others I have.
7. Because I have so many books, I try to keep all the titles on a spreadsheet on my phone in a way that doesn’t require internet connection. This really helps with accidentally buying double volumes. Of course, I’m a forgetful person and it takes me a while to update the sheet. If I’m going to a convention or doing a planned book shopping spree I make sure to update it!

And there you have it! Some of my bookshelves secrets~ Now, for my nominees I’d like to choose: The Otaku Hub – Weekend Otaku – Manga Corner – Karandi – Animexx
I also want to tag Lyn but I don’t know if you hit the 5 mark yet? I checked your nominations page but don’t know if that’s been updated. If you haven’t can you make this one about traveling?
Have fun and until next time people! 🙂
How many books and manga do you have in total? I’m curious, and I already hit the 5 person mark. I have one more to post for this one later on this week, and you already nominated me for this before XD

Looking at your shelves, I have the urge to play a manga version of Tetris. “Come on, I have a space for a series right here!!”

Congrats on the award Crim!! Oh my sweet Jesus, you have a ton of books and manga!! Makes my collection look like child’s play lol!
Why no love for the English Ten Count release? I’m curious since you mentioned it specifically.

Oh I mentioned it because I have the Japanese volumes but I don’t like it enough to rebuy in English. I actually bought the Japanese thinking there wouldn’t be an English release so when I heard it was I was like no way! It took me a while to decide if I was going to rebuy or not xD the later chapters helped that decision @_@

LOL, I got the first volume when it was released, so I stopped reading the scan. Has it gotten worse?

I stopped reading when the characters backstories were revealed so I’m not sure, I guess I just wasn’t a fan of their motives >_< I'm still going to read it later when there's more chapters out but for now it's on hold

Ah, I stopped around the first Kurose flashback… Yeah, Kurose’s motives are a little questionable lol

Congrats Crim, I love seeing your bookshelves, book envy is real and I have it! *_*
Man, you’re so OP for buying both versions of the manga! Wait…does this mean you KNOWN Japanese?! /gasps
Because of being a NEET I can’t make my own manga collection, but even if I do it, it’s gonna be digital. Digital is forever and paper occupies space, my room is small and I don’t like carrying stuff :’D

It is so real and I have it too don’t worry xD!!
No i don’t D: but some stuff doesn’t get translated and i really want to contribute money to the creators so i order them via Kino 🙂 And then they get translated and I just get it again if I really like the series! But i hope to one day! thats actually one of my goals for 2017 since I should be graduating soon (hence more time)…Lol
Idk why but i can’t do digital for manga. I’ve switched over a bit for novels because I legit have no more space for that in “my room” which is so weird bc I DO read manga online ^^; i guess i just really like the idea of being able to grab a book and skim through it and just admire??
i’m not working right now so i get that, i haven’t really gone manga shopping in WAYYYYYYY too long 😦
i carry so many things i go through bags like they’re nothing! #rip bags are pretty expensive, esp the nice ones >_<

Wow, you’re so amazing Crim, buying without knowing. But hey, this means you could start learning JP and have those as resources so win-win!
Novels and manga and anime digital is my life source /sponges
Plus it’s cheeaaaaper!
See that’s a reason for going digital, or getting digital copies too, only a single tablet or device which is pretty light 😀
