6+ Years of Fanfiction (Let’s Appreciate Some Authors!)

This is a post I’ve been meaning to write since a while ago but never really got around to finishing because my memory is so bad but since today is Fanfiction Appreciation Day I thought, what better timing? Basically, we’re going to go on a trip to my younger years, how I encountered fanfiction and where it stands in my life now. I’ll also be recommending some of my favorite stories so get those tabs ready!!

[Review] Skip Beat: 38 volumes of fun, craziness, and healing

Today I decided to share one of my favorite shoujo manga that makes me laugh like a maniac. As if I didn’t do enough of that already…

Skip Beat! is a 38 volume (and ongoing) shoujo manga by Yoshiki Nakamura that is licensed by VIZ media. Of course, all of this changes when Kyoko visits Sho on location and overhears a conversation where he confesses that he was only using her as a maid! Enraged by his betrayal, Kyoko vows revenge and thus her determination to enter showbiz is born. Continue reading

[Review] Whispered Words by Takashi Ikeda

If you know me, I’m a big fan of yaoi but recently I’ve been meaning to check out something different and a yuri/romance filled manga title seemed to fit the bill.Whispered Words is a nine-volume series by Takashi Ikeda and was published in a three-volume English translation by One Peace Books. I’ll be talking about the first volume only, which is 472 pages long!

Murasame and Kazama have been friends for a year, ever since Kazama transferred in, and accidentally revealed she likes girls. Immediately isolated and treated as a pervert, Murasame took it upon herself as class representative to befriend Kazama.

A year later Murasame finds herself in love with Kazama and unable to confess her love. Why? Because Kazama only likes cute girls and Murasame with her tall physique, black belt status, and poor sense in fashion is anything but cute. Continue reading
